A 2-stage regulator reduces the 10 psi down to the inlet pressure of the user's appliance. The 988 type regulator is designed for type A outside installations. The correct mounting position is with the vent angled down. The standard 988 LP regulator has the vent-hole facing in line with the inlet fitting.
