As the Switchboard in one of our Main Distribution Centre, you are the face of Bartle & Gibson. You are welcoming and enthusiastic providing exceptional customer service to every customer you interact with from Monday to Saturday. You have a friendly, outgoing personality, greeting all our customer in a professional manner, connecting them to the appropriate Bartle & Gibson employee who will take care of their needs.

Reporting directly to the Warehouse Manager, you will prove yourself to be an excellent representative for Bartle & Gibson by communicating clearly and professionally with individuals calling or visiting the branch while performing various basic clerical functions. Your main job duties are but not limited to:

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Greet visitors and answer basic customer inquiries in person or via telephone
  • Receive incoming calls and route them to the appropriate recipient using a multiline switchboard
  • Process customer payments at the receptionist desk
  • Perform recurring clerical duties such as filing, imaging and data input
  • Coordinate meetings and meeting rooms as needed
  • Coordinate travel arrangements and hotel bookings as needed
  • May help distribute mail
  • Order supplies as required
  • Other reception duties as required
  • Other duties assigned by Managers when needed
  • Professional grooming and presentation is expected of all employees representing Bartle & Gibson

Program Outcome

Upon successful completion of the LDP you may go into a position of Branch Manager, Outside Sales Representative or Sales Manager, dependent on the best fit for the candidate.

The Branch Manager is responsible for managing teams of 2 to 20 productive staff (can be within the areas of: sales, customer service, order desk, counter, warehouse) who are able to meet and exceed revenue targets while promptly and professionally addressing the needs of customers within their branch locale. The Branch Manager is also required to generate and deliver sales and marketing initiatives, revenue growth and client retention.

The Outside Sales Representative you will be responsible for all Outside Plumbing Sales and quotes, quote follow up and after sale service. The major focus will be on growing our business by calling on and servicing an existing account base as well as developing new accounts in the plumbing or electrical sales industry.

The Sales Manager will be responsible for leading a sales team of up to ten (10) Direct Reports and leveraging relationships to create new business opportunities while meeting or exceeding sales targets and professionally addressing the needs of customers.  Your major focus will be on growing our business within the designated sales territory as well as manage accounts and project businesses in the plumbing or electrical sales industry

The Senior Purchasing Agent is integral in ensuring product is purchased at the correct time, in the optimal quantities for the best possible pricing. This position focuses on product sourcing, procurement, management of ERP software to control product levels, vendor negotiation, problem solving both internally and externally, vendor comparison, freight sourcing and other duties as required.

We now have an exciting opportunity for an eager and talented individual to join our team in our Commercial Heating Department as a Heating Quotations Specialist.  The ideal candidate will essentially be responsible for the management of Commercial Heating quotations and building exceptional customer service.

Your main job duties will include, but won’t be limited to:

  • Proactively identify opportunities to quote heating equipment in Commercial Projects
  • Respond to customer queries related to commercial heating quotes
  • Communicate project details, obtain and review Heating quotes from suppliers
  • Prepare and provide quotes for new and existing customers and contractors
  • Provide accurate information regarding availability of in-stock items
  • Recommend alternate products based on cost, availability or specifications
  • Liaise between suppliers’ reps and customers for all inquiries, lead and delivery times, to meet tender deadlines
  • Provide clarification on engineering specifications sheets, pump schedules and addendums
  • Coordinate with other departments, particularly plumbing and electrical, for business opportunities
  • Maintain project documents both physical and electronic versions

  • Determine customer requirements and expectations in order to recommend specific products and solutions
  • Stay current with up-to-date product knowledge of heating equipment
  • Educate customers about terminology, features and benefits of products in order to improve product related sales and customer satisfaction
  • Identify trends in customer satisfaction or dissatisfaction
  • Create PDF files of specification sheets, that are job specific for project submittals and Owner operation manuals

Reporting directly to the Plumbing Sales Manager, you will be responsible for Inside Sales and quotes, quote follow up and after sale service.  Your major focus will be on the Plumbing/Heating business with electrical knowledge.  Your job duties are, but not limited to:

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responding to inquiries and processing incoming calls and orders
  • Contacting current customers and identifying new products and potential up-selling
  • Entering orders into system
  • Purchasing materials for customers and sales negotiations
  • Sourcing materials for customers when currently not in stock
  • Opening new accounts and closing orders
  • Maintaining knowledge base on current products and learning about new products
  • Providing product information, pricing quotations and follow-up on quotes
