IDEAL®, 85-383, Strain Relief Boots, For Use With: CAT6 Twisted Pair/RJ-45 8P8C Connectors, Blue

Strain relief boots can be used when a new patch cable is being made. The boots need to be placed onto the cable before both connector ends are terminated. The boots help to protect the modular plug body, especially the latch tab, from external handling damage. The strain relief feature on the boots helps to maintain the cable bend radius and limits conductor movement inside of the connector that can lead to continuity failures over time.

Features

  • Boot hood protects the RJ-45 modular plug retaining tab from snagging and breaking, prolonging the life of the connector
  • Tapered end secures and centers the cable to dampen cable vibrations which can place stress on the modular plug pin-to-conductor contact points, resulting in intermittent or open contacts over time
  • Extended back creates a gradual radius for cable bends, eliminating kinks and sharp bends that can impact data speeds and cable headroom
  • 6.5mm (.256 in diameter rear cable entrance for use with CAT6 or CAT6A cable from 6.0mm to 7.0mm (.236 in to .275 in in diameter
